Oklahoma Sky
There is something about the west
That made settlers stay
And something about the Oklahoma sky
Where you and I used to pray
In the wilds of the unknown
And in the vast land of cows and corn
of ranches and buildings snuggled in cities sparse
and of course
coffee shops
Where the bright pink and red sky meets the yellow fields
We made Oklahoma our home
Somewhere in there we fell in love
To fall right back out
Somewhere in there we stayed a while
To prepare to leave
For some Oklahoma is a life
A home
For you it was a map
A road sign
A good reason to stay
But a better one to go
Now you’re a tourist in your own home
And as you’re getting ready to leave again
Don’t forget your souvenirs,
Your boots
Your memories with me
Don’t forget we loved while we were there
How it helped us to pick up our pieces
But mostly don’t forgot
That Oklahoma peace
The bright pink sky
And the way it let us stay awhile
